FOCUS (Filmmakers of Color United in Spirit) at Columbia University invites you to a screening of Waiting for Gaza (2021) and Palestine in the Eye (1977).
Waiting for Gaza follows Arab and Tarzan Abu Nasser to the heart of their twinship, as well as their history of both what haunts them and pushes them to do cinema. Little by little, their life and work merge, as the line between reality and fiction fades away, blurring the tracks.
Palestine in the Eye chronicles the profound impact of Hani Jawharieh’s death for the PLO Film Unit. The film reflects on his life through interviews with family, colleagues, and his own cinematography, including the moment of his death while filming for the Unit in 1976.
