Please join us for the event Filmistin on Saturday March 30th at Starr Bar.
Doors open at 7:00 pm.
Address: 214 Starr Street Brooklyn, New York.

Filmistin is an evening of Palestinian visual art and in particular short-films and spoken word. Focusing on the theme of ‘the land’ and by exploring the linkages between nature, colonialism and memory, it will bring together several short films by Palestinian artists to showcase their work. In the context of the harsh repression on Palestinian political expression worldwide, it becomes all the more important to thematize the ongoing massacre of Gaza in its wider context of land seizure across the entirety of Palestine that has been ongoing since the Nakba, through the medium of films and spoken word around the theme of ‘the land’. All the evening’s proceeds will go to helping Sa’eed Al-Baytar and his family leave Gaza.
Sa’eed is a Palestinian refugee originally from Jaffa. He is an art director, poet, and actor with a passion for theatre performances. He and his family have been stuck in Gaza since the beginning of the aggression, and the event aims to support their efforts to leave. Sa’eed’s own poetic work will be featured during the event. There is no fixed entry price, please give what you can.

Tote bags featuring filmistin designs will be available for sale, along with kuffiyas all the way from Nablus, Palestine.
