ONLINE: Nun wa Zaytun

The film “Nun wa Zaytun” transports us to another Palestine with the stories of the people that Murad meets with his mobile cinema as he wanders from one place to another. We encounter a simple rural life, far from the modern cultural and social stereotypes of two cities just a few kilometers away - Ramallah and Tel Aviv - which the occupation built on the ruins of the villages of the Palestinian city of Jaffa. The scattered communities received a brief stay to watch films filmed in Palestine, in which some of them participated as actors. This moment of community harmony and artistic enjoyment is in rude contrast to the harsh reality they face daily with intrusive settlement expansion, land grabbing, the cruelty of occupation and poverty.

From Yanun, where only 5% of the village's olive groves are accessible, to Aqabat Jabr camp where refugees are waiting for their time to return while trying to adapt to their current circumstances, to Bethlehem at a solidarity rally with Gaza under bombardment, Murad's films evoke moments of Hope and daydreams.

In Beit Marsam, we hear stories about the Pharaohs, the pyramids, lost jewels, and radical Israeli and American archaeologists. In “Hani Amer State,” surrounded by Israeli occupation settlements, checkpoints, and the wall on all sides, we share a love story with Shakespearean proportions.
