The film "We Were Communists" retraces the intersecting destinies of comrades who once met over stories on the battlefield to fight the Israeli occupation, struggle for change, and dispel illusions in light of the ongoing crises the country is experiencing. Maher Abi Samra reads without restrictions the legacy of the Lebanese civil war and the post-war present. The question remains about the future of a country that is lurking at its borders with an expansionist colonial regime (Israel); and within it, a social fabric torn and divided against itself.
