The Chicago Palestine Film Festival’s annual online series Falasteen Film Fridays returns!
Kicking off the 2024 series will be two beautiful films, BORDERLINE and MADE IN PALESTINE. It is a free, live, virtual screening taking place on March 15 at 8:30pm CDT (9:30pm EDT).
BORDERLINE 2020, dirs. Benoît Bizard and Antoine Bonzon France, Palestine; 52 min. In Arabic and English with English subtitles
Borderline takes us on to meet Ivan, Ranim, Taleen, Sari and Abu Sofiane through an immersion in the various places they live in, under occupation. From various musical influences – rap, punk-rock, classical or traditional music – and different generations, the musicians all share a passion for music, a common sense of vital craving for freedom, of sharing their voices and being heard.
Preceded by the film: MADE IN PALESTINE 2009, dir. Mariam Dwedar 8 min.
Hirbawi Textiles is the last-remaining factory in Palestine that produces the iconic Palestinian scarf known as the Kuffiyeh. This charming short film gives us a glimpse of this unique factory's story.
Be sure to catch the remaining films in this series on March 22 and 29!
