Fedayin: George Abdallah’s Fight

  • St. Mark’s Church 131 East 10th Street New York, NY, 10003 United States (map)

NYC: Join us for a screening of FEDAYIN: GEORGE ABDALLAH’S FIGHT (2021) (Collectif Vacarmes Films, 81m) this Friday, January 26 at 6:30pm at the @poetry_project (St. Mark’s Church, 131 E 10th Street).

FEDAYIN tells the story of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah, a Lebanese revolutionary who devoted his life to the Palestinian liberation struggle. Abdallah, formerly a member of the Lebanese Armed Revolutionary Faction (LARF), has been imprisoned in France since 1984, making him the longest-held political prisoner in Europe. When Abdallah was scheduled to be liberated in 1999, the US and French governments colluded to block his release and ensure the continued captivity of one of Lebanon’s most powerful and popular political figures. Mixing contemporary interviews with archival footage from the 1967 War and the Lebanese Civil War, FEDAYIN is a lesson and a revelation.

Actions in solidarity with Abdallah have occurred all over the world in response to calls from both free people and fellow political prisoners, including Abdallah’s longtime comrade Ahmad Sa’adat, the general secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

We join the call to free Georges Ibrahim Abdallah and welcome all to bear witness to his extraordinary life of struggle and steadfastness.

This screening will be followed by a discussion between Abu Ali of @samidoun.nynj and Kaleem of the @palestinianyouthmovement.

LONG LIVE GEORGES IBRAHIM ABDALLAH!
LONG LIVE THE FEDAYIN!
