“Breaking the Silence”
2009 | 130 mins. | In English, Arabic & Hebrew | Directed by Doi Toshikuni
Breaking the Silence, which was filmed during and after the Second Intifada, highlights IDF veterans who speak out on the roles they played against Palestinian people as agents of the occupation. They reflect the process of them “becoming a monster,” while defining inner workings of settler colonialism.
On the other side of the fence, Palestinian people are faced with intensified atrocities committed by IDF, the continuation and escalation of which the world has been watching and protesting every day.
Following the film, members of About Face and cinemóvil nyc will facilitate a discussion on the film, which we hope leads to further actions of solidarity for the liberation of Palestine.
